Reworn Starts Remaking!

A huge thanks to Net Impact, Starlandia, House of Strut, and Future of Forsyth for sponsoring our Wear it Wise challenge. For the Reworn Upcycle Fashion Competition, the competitors were to make a new upcycled outfit from previously used garments and scraps that will be provided. The competition was held on Saturday, April 6th. Since everyone did such an amazing job we want to expand the opportunity to show off the work that you created at this years earth day festival.

Here's a survey to fill out if you came to our Reworn Competition https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/YV9VBK9 (: we would really appreciate it if you took the survey :)

We are looking to do a lot of fun and creative things this quarter! Here's the timeline of what's to come: Earth Day Fashion Show - April 20th Biweekly Meetings - April 24th, May 8th, and 22nd Brooke McEvers: Sustainable Fashion Alliance Webinar- April 24th CLOTHING SWAP! - May 8th

Fun Facts about Slow Fashion!

Since Up-Cycling has been a hot topic here at Slow Fashion Club we thought we would tell you a little bit more about it. Upcycling can be anything from putting a patch onto a stained jacket all the way to making an entirely new outfit from old clothing pieces. The term is open-ended and is in need of experimentation. So remember to have fun, create, and sign up to present your own personal up-cycled pieces this Earth Day!

Student Work: Restoration

This work is focused on my recent trip to Cuba. When I was there I noticed how all of the Buildings in Havana were old and decrepit. I found this to be interesting when comparing these old buildings to their newly restored cars. Since sustainability is something I’m so passionate about I decided to incorporate that into my concept of “restoration” I individually embroidered sustainability sourced textile swatches together to create the patchwork detail.  Kaitlin Feinberg - Designer Mellissa Chilson - Photographer      Camelia De Jesus - Model

Brands We Love

Alternative Apparel https://www.alternativeapparel.com/ Another brand that we absolutely adore is Alternative Apparel.  They are sustainable all the way down to their packaging... Talk about brand equity! They use oxo-biodegradable mailer bags and have implemented a vendor recycling program. In addition to that, they use organic cotton, low impact dyes, and post-consumer recycled polyester.   Kaitlin Feinberg
